About This Program:

This introduction to ballet basics and tap dance technique allows students to explore two different disciplines of classic dance, and experience how learning skills from one type of dance supports movements in another.  Students learn dance terminology, basic steps, body placement and awareness, tempo, rhythms, and patterns.  They learn to lead and follow, move in a formation, and how stringing together steps and movements become the choreography of a dance. This is a 1-hour class right at 3:20 on Thursday afternoons.  Dance attire is required: Pink leotards, pink tights and pink ballet shoes for girls; White T-shirt, black leggings and black ballet shoes for boys.  Black tap shoes for all.  Hair should be fastened away from the face.
