About This Program:

Judo is many things to different people. It is a fun sport, an art, a discipline, a recreational or social activity, a fitness program, a means to self-defense and a way of life. It is all of these and more. Your child will learn traditional Japanese judo skills and values, along with fitness, flexibility, discipline and respect, confidence in a safe and nurturing environment. The class consists of fun warm up games and exercises, as well as throwing and immobilized techniques on the ground. Judo is practiced safely and in accordance with the rules. Judo helps the physical, emotional and social development of your child. Duels play down situations, removing the blockage or apprehension often felt by children. This ASA offers a comprehensive Judo Martial Art program designed especially with children in mind.

Coach Patricia Yuki Moran is Brazilian-Japanese. She was raised in Brazil where she began her Judo training at the age of 11 at a local academy called “Club Recreativo Suzano de Judo Terazaki,” which is recognized as the first Judo Academy in the Americas.

After competing in many tournaments in Brazil, she moved to Japan and trained at several local clubs.  In 1999, she moved to the USA and began training under Master Coach Gerald Lafon, Director of Coaching at Judo America San Diego, San Diego’s premier Judo training center. Coach Lafon encouraged and mentored her to become a coach at Judo America.

Coach Moran is a 1st Degree Black Belt. She is currently Head Coach of the Lil Warriors program, and Assistant Coach of the Juniors program at Judo America, where she shares her passion of Judo with her students. She’s had the privilege of working with Olympians Valerie Lafon Hernandez and Israel Hernandez during summer camps, gaining additional coaching and teaching experience. She has two young daughters who practice Judo. Coach Moran speaks Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, and English.

Mandatory Uniform: you can provide a Jiu-Jitsu uniform, otherwise please inquire to Patricia
