About This Program:
This after school activity is designed to provide a beginning foundation in dance movement, incorporating this age group’s developing physical coordination, and imaginative play skills. Through various fun activities and exercises, students begin to learn classic dance terminology, basic steps, tempo, and patterns. They learn to take turns, lead and follow, and move in a formation. Choreography that tells a story is emphasized, and a brief review and sharing at the end of class reinforces new abilities, the joy of movement, and builds self-esteem. This is a 45-minute class starting at 3:30 on Wednesday afternoons. Dance attire is required: Pink leotards, pink tights and pink ballet shoes for girls; White T-shirt, black leggings and black ballet shoes for boys. Hair should be fastened away from the face.
